BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE TRIP
6 Days M’goun Summit in the Trek Atlas Mountains range of Morocco , and Mgoun ascent 4068. A beautiful hike on the high arid plateaus of the M’Goun massif. One of the most beautiful massifs of North Africa. Places of estives of the nomads and their herds. From the Happy Valley, called the Aït Bougmez Valley, your hike begins with the passage of a first pass that reveals the Tarkeddit plateau with the M’Goun as a backdrop. However the ascent of this very beautiful summit is optional. According to your desires! A beautiful itinerary in the highest and wildest part of the central High Atlas.
We also propose hikes around the Mgoun not only from the Ait Bouguemez valley but also from Ait Boualli, the Arous valley, hikes around the Mgoun through the green valleys of Tassaoute and Lake Izoughar….

After breakfast, we leave Marrakech and appreciate our visit to the most beautiful waterfall in Morocco, picnic along the way. Then we go through Azilal and Ait Abbass to the Ait Bougemez valley, the happy valley. Our luggage will be loaded on mules, then we start our Mgoun Peak ascent trek, we walk on a well-marked path through the valley to the shepherd village of Azib-n-Ikkis. We walk through the wild and almost untouched landscape of the high mountains before crossing the Aghouri pass (3400 m). After a quiet picnic, we slowly descend the nomadic path to Tarkedit. Bubbling streams and green alpine meadows make the area a popular pasture. Elevation: +1150 m / -500 m Overnight: tents.
Today we make our attempt to the summit of M'Goun's! It's not a technically difficult but the altitude and the scree will make it a bit hard in some part. However up there, you will experience and enjoy unforgettable view of the most famous peaks, the Drâa valley, Jbel Saghro and the Sahara desert. The descent takes place through a fascinating valley in the overwhelming solitude of the High Atlas. We cross the large "Oumssoud" basin, past the source of Assif M'Goun, to reach Oulilimte at the end of the day. Elevation: +1200 m / -1500 m. Overnight: tent (B/ L / D)
The sun wakes us up for breakfast. Today we walk through a wide valley, always keeping in mind the impressive mountain range. Along a crystal clear stream we see the fantastic rock formations. We camp at the edge of a small river. Elevation: -300 m. Overnight: tent (B/ L / D)
In the caravan we pass irrigated fields and quirky Berber villages to cross the Ait Imi pass, beautiful views of the valleys below, then we descend on old mul roads. It is surprising that after so many days of civilisation there is such a lively village life full of charming people. The mud houses bear witness to an eventful past. After breakfast we go up to the TIMIT pyramid to visit the collective marabout / Graniro of Sidi Moussa (2008m.), which offers impressive and magnificent views of the valley. End of our 6-Day Mount Mgoun Ascent Trek - Happy Valley Trekking.
Return to Marrakech passing by the natural bridge of Imi n Ifri where we eat. Arrival in Marrakech, end of our services.
