Highlights of the Marrakech to Merzouga desert tour:
At 8:00 am, we will leave Marrakech to head towards Ouarzazate. On the way, we will cross the amazing landscapes of the Atlas through the incredible mountain pass of Tizi n'Tinchka, 2,260 meters high.
On the way, we'll reach the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, where a particular scene in Ridley Scott's epic film, Gladiator was shot". Here you will have approximately two and a half hours to discover the most amazing fortified city in Morocco and to have lunch.
Afterwards we will reach Ouarzazate, where we will stop for half an hour to take pictures of the impressive Kasbah of Taourirt.
After lunch we drive through the road of the Thousand Kasbahs to Skoura, cross the Valley of the Roses to finally reach the Dades Valley, where we will stay.
After breakfast, we'll head to the Dades Valley and cross the incredible Todra Gorges, to walk and enjoy the scenery.
We will continue our way towards Merzouga and cross the Palm groves of Jorf, from where the best dates come, and eat before reaching Erfoud, a small village known for its fossil fragments.
Once in Merzouga, we will leave the vehicle to enter the desert on camels in search of the camp where we will spend the night. Here, in the silence of the desert, we will enjoy one of the most authentic dinners in Morocco.
If there's something unforgettable in the desert, it's the dawn. After contemplating this moment, we will have breakfast at the camp and start the last day.
We leave the desert behind on the way to Marrakech, passing by the Palm grove of Tafilalat and the village of Rissani, origin of the Alawite dynasty. We will cross the plateaus of Accacia raddiana and the stone desert to reach Alnif, where we will take the road that crosses the Anti Atlas mountain range, passing through Tizi N'tfarkhin. We will continue our way through the village of Tinghir and the Dades Valley.
We arrive in Klaat M'Gouna at midday, where we will stop for lunch and rest before continuing on to Marrakech, passing Ouarzazate and the Atlas Mountains.
We'll be back at your Marrakech hotel around 20:30 hours.
