Our 8-day trekking adventure across the M’Goun Massif and the Valley of the Roses offers the perfect balance between physical challenge and cultural immersion. From the green terraces of the Happy Valley to the wild beauty of the southern slopes, you’ll walk ancient nomadic paths, sleep under starlit skies, explore Berber villages, and—if you wish—summit one of the highest peaks in North Africa. Designed for those who seek true connection with nature, people, and tradition, this trek is more than a hike—it’s an experience that will stay with you forever.
An authentic trekking in the Draa Valley will allow you to explore a chain of oases, vast palm groves, and an endless expanse of dunes. You will discover ksour and kasbahs with traditional architecture. A journey that already smells of warm sand and mint tea…
Itinerary of Trekking through M’Goun and the Rose Valley
Arrival and meet & greet at Marrakech airport. Transfer to the hotel or riad located in the Medina. Free time to explore the city depending on your arrival time.
Transfer via the town of Azilal, gateway to the High Atlas, until we reach D’Agouti, the first village of the Happy Valley of Ait Bougmez. Here we meet our mule team and begin the trek through the Berber villages of the Arous Valley.
🚐 5 hours by car, 🚶 2.5 hours on foot. Overnight in tents.
A gentle ascent to the Tarkeddit Pass (3450 m), offering panoramic views of the northern slopes of the M’Goun massif and the surrounding peaks. Overnight in tents on the Tarkeddit Plateau, an area frequented by nomads and their flocks.
A long day hike (optional) to the summit of M’Goun at 4,068 m. Alternatively, walk with the mule team along a shorter route. From the summit, enjoy stunning views over the Central Atlas range, the Dades Valley, Jebel Saghro and the edges of the Sahara.
⏱ 9 hours trekking. Overnight in tents at Ifri N’Ait Hamou (2800 m).
We enter the southern slopes of the Atlas, where nomadic tribes roam with goats, sheep and camels. The trail descends from the Tichki Valley through small earthen villages until we reach Ameskar.
⏱ 7 hours trekking. Overnight in tents.
A relaxing day walking along a valley full of oleanders (you’ll need sandals for the gorges), passing the village of Amjgag and its beautiful kasbahs. Picnic lunch by the river near El Hot village. After about 2.5 hours walking through rose fields, we reach Boutaghrar.
End of our M’Goun trek. Overnight in a local guesthouse.

Transfer back via the small town of Kelaat M’Gouna, famous for its rose-based products, then across the Tichka Pass (2260 m). Lunch en route. Arrival in Marrakech.
Breakfast at the hotel. Depending on flight time, transfer to Marrakech airport. End of our services. Bslama!
Transfers
All private transfers from and to Marrakech are included, including transportation to the starting point (Ait Bougmez) and return from the Valley of the Roses.
Accommodations
2 nights in a hotel or riad in Marrakech (with breakfast), 4 nights in tents during the trek, and 1 night in a local guesthouse in Boutaghrar.
Bivouac Nights
Tented accommodations during the trek, with sleeping mats. Camps are set up and packed daily by the support team.
Full Board During the Trek
All meals during the trek are included: breakfasts, picnic or hot lunches, and dinners prepared by the cook. Meals are nutritious and adapted to trekking needs.
Support team
Your team includes a certified Spanish-speaking Berber mountain guide, a cook, and muleteers who transport equipment and supplies.
Camp Logistics
Full camping gear is supplied: tents, kitchen equipment, tables, chairs, and everything necessary for your comfort in the wild.
Drinking water
Safe drinking water is provided throughout the hike, along with tea, coffee, and herbal infusions during meals.
International flights
Flights to and from Marrakech are not included. Each participant is responsible for arranging their own air travel.
Personal Equipment
Sleeping bags, trekking gear, clothing, headlamps, and other personal items must be brought by each participant.
Travel Insurance
Participants must arrange their own travel insurance. It is highly recommended to cover cancellations, luggage, and medical emergencies.
Meals in Marrakech
Lunches and dinners while in Marrakech are not included (only breakfast at the hotel is provided).
Sleeping bag
You must bring your own sleeping bag suitable for mountain conditions.
Tips
Tips for the guide, cook, and camel drivers are not included. Gratuities are at the discretion of each traveler and are appreciated for good service.
