Places You’ll See
The Toubkal Massif rises to 4167 meters in the High Atlas above the Haouz plains, near Marrakech. On clear days, it can be seen, snow-covered from autumn to spring. Its proximity and easy access allow for a quick entry into the heart of its narrow valleys with terraced fields. The local populations live with tenacity, cultivating barley and wheat on terraces clinging to the mountainsides, which rise steeply to peaks of 4000 meters. At the foot of these mountains, Berber farmers still practice an ancient, millennia-old agricultural tradition and an ingenious irrigation system that seems unchanged since the dawn of time.
