Experience a different side of Morocco on this 8-day Jebel Saghro trek through the rugged landscapes of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. Located between the High Atlas and the Sahara Desert, Jebel Saghro is known for its volcanic peaks, dramatic canyons, remote valleys and peaceful Berber settlements.
This guided trekking adventure takes you far from the busiest tourist routes, following mountain trails through extraordinary geological landscapes while discovering the traditional lifestyle of southern Morocco. With experienced local support, accommodation and meals organized along the route, you can focus on the scenery and the experience of trekking through one of Morocco’s most fascinating regions.

Your 8-Day Morocco Itinerary
Arrival in Marrakech or Ouarzazate
Arrive at Marrakech or Ouarzazate Airport, where your local team will welcome you and assist with the transfer to your Riad or hotel. Settle in and enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure before beginning your Jebel Saghro trekking adventure. Overnight stay with breakfast included.
Marrakech to Tagdilt via Tizi n’Tichka and Ouarzazate
Depart Marrakech and travel through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m). Enjoy panoramic views across the Atlas Mountains before continuing toward Ouarzazate. After lunch, follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Dades Valley to Tagdilt, located at the foot of the Jebel Saghro Mountains. Overnight stay in a traditional gîte. Driving time: approximately 7 hours.
Tagdilt to Almou’n Ouarg
Begin the trek from Tagdilt while most of the luggage is transported by mules. Cross riverbeds and gravel plains before climbing to the Tizi n’Tazoughat Pass (2,200 m), with views over the mountain plateau and Dades Valley. After a picnic break, continue toward Tizi n’Iferd, the highest pass of the trek at approximately 2,500 m, before descending to the Almou’n Ouarg bivouac at around 2,200 m. Walking time: approximately 6 hours. Ascent: +900 m. Descent: -300 m.
Almou’n Ouarg to Igli via Jebel Kouaouch
Continue through the rugged landscapes of Jebel Saghro with an ascent toward Jebel Kouaouch (2,592 m). Cross steep rocky terrain and enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding mountains before continuing across the Tassigdelt Plateau (2,100 m). Descend through dramatic table-mountain scenery toward the oasis of Igli at approximately 1,700 m, where the camp will be set up for the night. Walking time: approximately 6 hours. Ascent: +300 m. Descent: -900 m.
Igli to Bab’n Ali via Afourar Gorge
Begin with a gradual climb toward a high plateau before descending through rocky terrain into greener landscapes and cultivated fields. Enter the impressive Afourar Gorge, following the trail between high rock walls and crossing the riverbed several times before reaching the next campsite near Bab’n Ali. Walking time: approximately 6.5 hours. Ascent: +300 m. Descent: -300 m.
Bab’n Ali to Tifrit
Walk through the remarkable landscape of Bab’n Ali, a natural gateway formed by two massive rocky peaks. Follow the dry riverbed of Asif Amguis toward a traditional Berber village, then continue through a greener oasis valley with date palms, henna plants, olive groves, and small agricultural fields. Arrive in Tifrit at approximately 1,190 m for an overnight stay in a rural gîte or in tentes. Walking time: approximately 6 hours. Ascent: +200 m. Descent: -300 m.
Tifrit to Marrakech via Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou
After breakfast, leave the Jebel Saghro region and travel toward Marrakech via Ouarzazate. Along the way, you may visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most iconic fortified villages. Continue through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass and the Ounila Valley before arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon. Transfer to your Riad for an overnight stay with breakfast included.
Departure from Marrakech
After breakfast, transfer to Marrakech Airport according to your flight schedule. End of services.
