Mount Mgoun and Rose Valley Trekking, Mgoun ascent 4068 m : Morocco is a country of enchanting scenery and varied lanscapes. The high Atlas mountains are fascinating world. Life here is hard, humble, but the people are happy and open-minded. Nature determines the rhythm of life. During this 11-day trek, we climb the third highest mountain in North Africa with 4068 m high, The high Atlas mountain range, stretches for a length of 700 km where Ten peaks culminate at 4000 m. Day 1 | Marrakech (arrival)

Our  Driver will meet you at the airport and take you to your riad in the medina. Depending on the time of arrival, there is the possibility of undertaking the first visit. Free time, In the evening, be sure to head
to the Jemaa el Fna square, which is probably the most famous square in the world.

Day 2 | Marrakech - Azilal - Ait Bouguemez - Azib ikiss (2300 m) (about 4,5 hours drive and 2 hours walk).

After breakfast, we leave Marrakech and our 11 Days Mgoun Trekking start by appreciating the visit to the most beautiful waterfall in Morocco, picnic along the way. Then we go through Azilal and Ait Abbass to the Ait Bougemez valley, the happy valley. Our luggage will be loaded on mules, then we start our Mount Mgoun and Rose Valley Trek, we walk on a well-marked path through the valley to the shepherd village of Azib-n-Ikkis. Day 3 | Azib N'Arous - Tarkedit (2900 m) (about 6 hours of walking)

 We walk through the wild and almost untouched landscape of the high mountains before crossing the Aghouri pass (3400 m). After a quiet picnic, we slowly descend the nomadic path to Tarkedit. Bubbling streams and green alpine meadows make the area a popular pasture. Elevation: +1150 m / -500 m Overnight: tents.

Day 4 | Tarkedit - Summit of M'Goun (4068 m) - Oulilimte (2600 m) (about 8 hours of walking)

Today we make our attempt to the summit of M'Goun's! It's not a technically difficult but the altitude and the scree will make it a bit hard in some part. However up there, you will experience and enjoy unforgettable view of the most famous peaks, the Drâa valley, Jbel Saghro and the Sahara desert. The descent takes place through a fascinating valley in the overwhelming solitude of the High Atlas. We cross the large "Oumssoud" basin, past the source of Assif M'Goun, to reach Oulilimte at the end of the day. Elevation: +1200 m / -1500 m. Overnight: tent (B/ L / D)

Day 5 | Oulilimte - Ain Aflafal (2300 m) (about 4 hours of walking)

The sun wakes us up for breakfast. Today we walk through a wide valley, always keeping in mind the impressive mountain range. Along a crystal clear stream we see the fantastic rock formations. We camp at the edge of a small river. Elevation: -300 m. Overnight: tent (B/ L / D)

Day 6 | Ain Aflafal - Imi-n-Irkt (1900 m) (about 6 hours of trekking)

As a caravane we walk past irrigated fields and original Berber villages, then descend the valley through old paths. It is surprising that so many days of civilization  experienced there is such a bustling village life full of lovely people. The mud houses bear witness to a turbulent past. Day 7 | Imi-n-Irkt - Tighanimine (1500 m) (about 5 hours walk)

 The stream cuts an impressive path through the rock formations. The valley narrows noticeably into a gorge that is only three meters narrow. The sunlight penetrates less and less between the rock walls almost 300 m High. We picnic in the shade of an old walnut tree. We cross the river bed in knee-deep water. Elevation: approximately -400 m Overnight: tent (B / L / D)

Day 8 | Tighanimine - Boutghrar (1400 m) (about 6 hours walk)

Our path, bordered by lush fig trees and oleander bushes, all way along the river for about six hours and also partly in fresh water. After lunch, the landscape changes and slowly turns into a desertic barren terrain. We arrive at Boutghrar. Our canyon hike ends here. Elevation: -100 m Overnight: guesthouse (B / L / D)

Day 9 | Bouthhrar - Marrakech (approx 330 km)

End of our 8 day Mount Mgoun and Rose Valley Trek, we say goodbye to the trekking team and drive on a beautiful road via Ait Ben Haddou, where the lunch break is scheduled. We leave the mountains by the Tichka pass (2260 m) and drive to Marrakech. Overnight: Riad in the Medina 

Day 10 | Marrakech (visit & stay)

 After a hearty breakfast, we visit the medina with a local guide taking in the following monuments: the Koutubia mosque, the immense "Jemaa el Fna" square, the colorful souks with oriental scents, the Ben Yussef Koranic school more than 400 years old, the Bahia Palace magnificent oriental decoration and museum of Marrakech. Free afternoon.

Overnight: Hotel or  Riad in the Medina

Day 11 | Marrakech - Airport

 (return flight) If you do not wish to extend your trip, your driver will take you to Marrakech airport. YOUR MOROCCO wishes you Bslama, a safe journey home. (B)

This program 8 day Mount Mgoun and Rose Valley Trek may suffer some variation at the discretion of the guide depending on the weather conditions, the physical / technical conditions of the participants or for any unforeseen event that may be detrimental to the safety of the group and the proper development of the program. You have to accept the guide's decisions on matters of organization, logistics and security. Any extra expenses for accommodation, meals, transportation and others as a consequence of this variation, will be borne by the participants.
